Computer configuration:
eMule Plus version: 1.2
Using proxy: No
Firewall: No
CPU: 1.3 Pentium M
Memory: 256
Operating System: Windows XP
Updated drivers
for network and video:
Don't know

Hi,
My Emule Plus was working fine but suddenly since yesterday when I am clicking the Emule Plus Icon to execute it, No Emule window is displayed.
I checked the Windows processes and found the emule exe is running and taking almost 100% of CPU. But even after a long time (I waited for couple of hours) no emule window was shown.
I checked the debug & emule logs as well but unable to find any new entry there.

Please help.

Try deleting gui.dat in your emule config folder.

Make a backup copy of your config folder (it has your identity and credits also) and then repeat what you did with gui.dat with the rest of the files. One of the files is corrupt.

Try preferences.ini and preferences.dat, then the other files one by one until you find the one that's bad.

When you find it, keep it somewhere in case one of the devs here want to take a look at it.

Actually, UserHas is stored in preferences.DAT, so it might no be such a good idea to delete that file...

I deleted the files of config folder one by one and even I deleted all the files, but my problem is still the same. Still emule exe is taking 100% CPU without displaying any emule screen. However after deleteing files Emule plus has automatically created the following files
preferences.ini,filter.dat, peferences.dat, shareddir.dat, tempdir.dat & userhash.dat

What should I do next please.

After some r&d I found the culprit of my problem. mad.gif
It was __db.001 of eMule\Db folder. I deleted this file manually and Emule plus has created a new instance of this file and displayed the screen (without shooting up the CPU uses to 100%). hurray...
I hope this should not affect emule performance or anything else. right ?

I have the corrupted _db.001 with me. So if you guys need this to investigate the problem, please let me know how to send this file to you.

Thanks a lot forthe help

Hmm.. That folder contains the information about any files that you have put under JumpStart. True, it gets corrupted from time to time, but since the data in it is not crucial, no big loss. Delete the file by all means; dlete the entire Db folder if you fell like it.

What is strange though is that when one of the db files is corrupt, eMule Plus usually gives you a message box pointing out the fact. Since you didn't mention seeing any such box, I assumed that it wasn't the db.

Hang on to the corrupt file for a week; if you haven't heard from the devs by then you can delete it.

Thanks and congrats.

it sometimes happened when you starts eMule too fastly after the boot
i don't know why exactly but the easiest solution it to create a .bat file in the eMule Plus directory with this line in it :
CODE
eMule.exe restore

then when it occurs just click on it and the eMule Plus window will restore

muleteer, I was not getting any message box point to any problem. On developer's request I have send the file to them.

Thanks a lot for your time & help

I've checked this database file. Berkeley DB code has an endless loop inside while trying to open such corrupted database. I never liked having database to keep such kind of information, as there're more problems than advantages.

So far I don't see anything we can do to improve the situation.

Well, we can move that data out of the DB and remove Berkley code.

Neat. I found this thread while trying to find a way to get my eMule Plus 1.2 GUI back.

I could see from my bandwidth monitor that all awas OK with DL/ULs, and that in XP2 SP2 the eMule task was running.

I just followed the tip to make a batch file with "eMule.exe restore" and ran it, and back came my GUI.

Thanks.

Edit: I spoke too soon, all is not quite right. I cannot now minimise the eMule Plus GUI, it just ignores that click. It will re-size OK, just not minimise after my batch file to restore it.

Actually, I can confirm what MrCC says..

SOMETIMES, when you can't restore from SysTray and are forced to use CLI command, the Minimize to Tray command doesn't respond..

But it's only SOMETIMES...
