Be a thing that I have already asked in other forum but I've never got answers one equal to the other. Anybody know the maximum number of connections that a Router can accept at the same time? My router for example is an Hamlet HRDSL 740 and no technical characteristics report this parameter and Hamlet doesn't dream to answer my request sent they by e-mail!!! At the end, to me interests to know the correct value to insert in "Preferences-> Connection-> Max. Connections". I know well that this query look like a stupid query and that anybody will be been already knocking to the ground for the laughters... but some times don't do a question is stupid more than do it!!! Do you agree? This post has been edited by pierottolo: Aug 23 2005, 18:16 |

If the limit isn't mentioned, you can safely assume that it is 256. There are routers capable of handling more conections, say 1024, but these will almost always mention this in the specifications (they are justifiably proud of the fact
Unfortunately, there is no setting you can make to directly control this parameter. 256 includes ALL connections, eMulePlus (uploading, downloading, server, webserver, etc.), browser, email, ISP software, any other application that uses the internet that you might be running. For eMulePlus, TD77's suggestion of max connections 200 is as good as it gets. The most load on the router happens immediately after the client is started, so keep a close eye on the connections graph in statistics. Although we do get funny ones from time to time, there was nothing funny about your question. This is a very real problem. |
