HASH IMPERSONATOR, I'm being banned by my own Emule

Is there anybody out there who's received the message Hash Impersonator regrading his own hash? I have been getting banned and disconnected from my own Emule connection. I am being accused of "Hash Impersonating" Background: Well, it all started like this, see. Like a greedy mf, I deliberately installed Emule in two locations so that I could download all the more - ah ha ha ha ha. (Two different computer, different networks, different locations) Well this all backfired on me when I had to delete one of the installations. So, I naturally decided to transfer all the files in the Temp directory from the first (now deleted) Emule into the second (still running) Emule. Instead of the smooth transition that I had hoped for, I keep getting a strange message, such as: 12/10/2003 11:43:45: Sent automated ban message to user: XXXX (myHash impersonator) Sometimes I receive as many as 100 of these ban messages. I have concluded that these ban messages are related to the fact that I have mixed two installations. But mebbe I'm wrong. Is there anyway to synthesize two installations? Is there anyway to set my Emule installation so that I can't be banned. This is really slowing down my downloads and driving me CRAZY![FONT=Optima] |

Delete your preferences.dat. You'll lose any credits you have but you'll get a new hash and won't have the problem any longer.

self-banning seem to occure in some situation, yet unreproducable
do u have a high-id? is the pc running emule directly connected to the net (got the public ip)? any uncommon network-setup like diffrent ip's on one interface? to get rid of the messages (not really a solution, i know) turn off prefs/advanced/send message to banned users |
