download and upload features

Greetings! here are some:
(1) = is it possible to add some setting field with a number of how much files can be downloading at the same time? i mean some changeable limit for number of downloading files at the same time. for example if you have 20kBps d/l bandwidth i think it should sometimes be better to download 3 files at relatively high speed than 7 files on "turtle-race" speed. i realise that you can pause some files and leave those 3 to download, but if you go to sleep and one (or more) stops transferring (not much sources or else), those paused ones wont wake up automatically (2) = the same as (1) but for upload with one exception. the point is not to set a changeable limit to number of files but to number of users (clients) downloading from me at the same time (3) = i think it would be good to make the EXCLUSIVE PRIORITY feature. example: i start sharing a whole new file so im the only source for it. i set the priority to EXCLUSIVE so when some user requests that file, the user IMMEDIATELY goes to the top of my upload queue and IMMEDIATELY starts downloading that file. it would be useful if you want a particular file to be FAST-SPREAD across the ed2k network. so this feature will make some files OFFQUEUED. though queue should still appear if more than one client requests an OFFQUEUED (or should it be called exclusive?) file thank you! |

1. Hmm... what exactly are you proposing? Start another file if the currently active files don't get any data for 30 minutes?
2. The number of upload slots is determined by your upload speed as set in preferences. Don't expect that to be changed anytime soon. 3. Have you tried setting such files to release priority? Also, check out the JumpStart feature. |

QUOTE(muleteer @ Apr 25 2005, 13:25) 1. Hmm... what exactly are you proposing? Start another file if the currently active files don't get any data for 30 minutes? 2. The number of upload slots is determined by your upload speed as set in preferences. Don't expect that to be changed anytime soon. 3. Have you tried setting such files to release priority? Also, check out the JumpStart feature. 1) im proposing to make some "slots" like in uploads but the number (how much) is changeable by user. example: you set it to 3. the download begins. when any 3 files from the download list begin transferring, no more are allowed to. how is it now in emule+? it surely doesnt allow 24 files to be downloading all the same time. i guess it automatically sets some limitations. am i right? so making those limitations changeable by user should fit all the point i think. hmm? 2) got it 3) as far as i know the RELEASE does make bigboost to the upper level in queue. but i still find clients trying to download this file in queue somewhere between 10 and 20. and if all my upload slots are "occupied" then that user has to wait before some slot is free. maybe it will be wise to make emule+ to free (automatically) one slot for that trying-to-download-exclusive-file-client? thank you! EDIT: jumpstart is useful if we mention that the jumpstarting file is uploaded when requested. it does no good to make them higher in queue, does it?
