I consider that eMule Plus is one of the bests p2p for ed2k network, but I think that emule Plus would be better with webcache.

What do you think about that?

There are two reasons (as far as I have understood):
  • You only benefit from WebCache if you use the same Proxy that the person you try to download from does, and since ISPs usually restrict proxies to their own users, the chance of you connecting to a person who use the same ISP is minimal, compared to the number of sources for a file.
  • There are moral (and maybe legal) issues to take into account store illegal data (we have to face the fact that ed2k is mostly used for illegal files unsure.gif) on a computer that is not your own.

You will get more or less the same explanation if you ask in oMule forum...

False.

In Spain, for example, user of ISPs can use the proxies of their ISP, but everybody can use public proxies (the majority).

Webcache chunks are encrypted (blocks of 180 KB)

Public proxies tend to be very short lived...

And just because the chunks are encrypted, it doesn't make the content illegal???? ohmy.gif stare.gif unsure.gif

The proxy that you can put in the options of webcache isn't always the same.
This proxy name redirects you to the real proxy, which is changed every day, o when the proxy fall down laugh.gif

So it's moral to go taking down public proxies?
Anyway, you know the answer, you know our opinion, the opinion of the original client. No need for further discussions on this.

Apart from all that, the gain from WebCache is very very smal..

I tested lphant client some months back...

I downloaded 3-4 GB in total, but only 700KB came from WebCache...

Gracias por responder DonGato laugh.gif

Fuxie - DK, in Spain webcache users download two hundred MB or more everyday, because some of them have it enabled.

Thanks to everybody; anyway, I'll use lphant, with webcache, of course wink.gif
