Computer configuration:
eMule Plus version: eMule Plus v1.2e
Using proxy: No
Firewall: Yes
CPU:
Memory:
Operating System: Windows XP
Updated drivers
for network and video:
Don't know

For the past few months, I have been completely unable to use eMule because of all the bogus search results. I get literally thousands! In fact, there are so many that no real results are ever returned.

I have done some research on this, and the only info I can find is that bogus results come from bogus servers. But, I have tried downloading "good" server.met files from various sources, including the URLs already present in the drop down box when eMule Plus is installed.

Anybody have any other ideas about what the problem might be? I feel like I'm missing something simple, but I just can't figure it out.

Thanks.

Do you mean that your returns are outside the search parameters you set? If this is what you are talking about.........then I've been getting a butt load as well. 99% of everything I download is video, here's what I keep in my searches

EXCEPT - .mov .rm .wmv MIN.SIZE(mb) - 70

TYPE - video METHOD - Global

Then I'll get back whatever name I typed in followed by some bulls41t " * with crack code .avi" size- 1.2mb sources - 1437(1321).

Notice the space after the last letter in the name, then the .avi, and the fact that they're only 1-5mb's in size when I told it specifically not to give any returns smaller than 70mb's it gives me a stream of these things anyway!!!!

AND I CAN NOT GET RID OF THEM EITHER!!!!!!!!!

Even with a new fakes.rar. Don't feel alone,I'm helpless and pissed too.

I hope guys that you use proper ipfilters.

Also use this to check your servers:

I just looked over the site you list, and what does it mean? Are "referenced servers" in some way better? Should one only use "Referenced servers", or "fully functional servers"?

And please point me to something that tells me how to "use proper ipfilters"!!

You need to check difference between referenced and fully functional at peerates.net.

Read this one as well:

I finally figured out a method. I went to peerates.net, got the link for their link to their servers list, and use that exclusively for my servers. You also have to go into preferences and turn off "get new servers" from everywhere except the peerates.net site, otherwise as soon as you log onto a server, it will send you bad servers again.

Aww thanks for that I had a quick look and peerates.net and it seems to do the job well so i'll give the rest of it a go when i get a moment.

Bad results come from bad servers. Keep your server list clean and you shouldn't have any problems. wink.gif

Yes, you guys need to load the decent server-mets. Here are the urls that I use and are usually recommended:

http://www.gruk.org/server.met
http://peerates.net/servers.php

You can paste these in "update server.met from url". I know they often dont bring up a whole lot of servers but at least you know theyre clean. As soon as you get fake results and stay connected to these fake servers you take a slight risk.

For security go under options, security and paste in the following URL for the IP-filter:
http://emulepawcio.sourceforge.net/ipfilter.zip

Only it has to be ipfilter.dat, as zip is not supported.

Um, it is in mine? When I give the zip url emule perfectly downloads it and extracts it into the folder? Oh boy, indeed - the ipfilter.dat in the config folder isnt actually updated. Ok, so better to manually download from that url I gave and then extract the dat file into the config.
