Could you expand on the connection speed a bit more. Is 256 your download? If so what's your upload speed?

upload is the maxmum speeds your isp allows you to send data up (out of your pc) download is the maxmum speed your isp allows you to recieve data, you need to know both to configure emule properly

ur upload capacity is essential cause if u have your line fed up to the max upload, your download will go down cause of the tcp-overhead.
so your dl is 256 aka 32kB and if your upload is 96 aka 12kB i would suggest setting your capacity to 56 down, 12 up (this only makes the graphs look nice divided in 10 and 2 kB steps) and setting limits to 56 down (yes, higher value than u really have maybe better!) and 10 up (ratiofree). u can leave the other settings queuesize, max connections, con.per5 and sources/file on the default for the beginning. cu |

As moosetea and syrus has said, you will need to know your upload speed just as much as your download speed. Reason for this is you will be steadily uploading your own files to other people on the network. Too low an upload speed (less than 10) and the ratio comes into play meaning your max download will be decreased greatly. Too high an upload speed, you won't have enough bandwidth to send out your download information (such as searching for sources). If 256Kbps is your download speed, 128Kbps is probably what your upload speed is. In which case the upload speed you should choose is 10Kbs. For number of sources, 400 should be the most. Its very rarely that you'll need more than this. The others are really dependent on your connection and if your connection can handle it. You'll need to spend a certain amount of time configuring it to get the best results. |

my PC is on a LAN with an E1 connection but I setup my emule plus 1f connection to one of the presets, which is ADSL 256/128, so as not to hug the whole E1 that we have (my boss will kill me if I do so), so far im getting a maximum of 20KB for dowloads (3-4 simultaneous downloads) and maximum of 8KB for uploads (6 simultaneous uploads).
I tried to downgrade my upload speed to 6KB but it affects the downloads speed that you have, so reanimated suggestion to set your upload speed to 10+ is good. |

not necessarily. It's just there to give a rough idea of what settings you need. Not really the best ones to use.

Does anyone have recommended settings for a Wireless Broadband connection.
The theoretical limits of Wireless are very high but in reality, download speeds from good sites vary from 70 to 250KB/s. Upload speed is similar. I'm trying to work out the best combination for UL:DL in Emule Plus (- other optimal settings would be useful as well). When I set upload to 50KB/s, the connection usually goes down after about an hour. The fastest I've achieved is 60 up and 70 down but that didn't last long. So, is there an optimal combination for Wireless? Also, if you are really in a hurry for a particular file (but already have 20+ in your transfer queue), is there any way to "focus" all download potential on that file? - other than to just give it "high" priority. Would pausing all the other files help? Thanks |
