Hi,

I've been using eMule v0.29c for a while, and I have found it to be quite unstable. After hearing good things about eMulePlus, I have decided to give it a go.

However, I would like to know if I can keep all my downloads, u/d stats, and my userhash when I switch over. If so, what do I do, just move the temp directory, and the config directory to the new eMulePlus directory?

I apologise if this has already been asked, I have done a few searches, but cannot find anything about moving from eMule to eMulePlus, just about backing up eMulePlus data...

Many thanks,
Toris

you can, but you need to move the files from the 29c folder to the eMulePlus folder.

If you simply overwrite the existing emule.exe, emule.tmpl and webserver folder, you need to move the config files from the config folder to the emule root ..

That was easy to understand right?!? unsure.gif

All I did was unzip the binary to the emule dierctory, overwriting all files and everything seems to work ok, all existing d/ls carried on etc. Stats are certainly carried over.

Just curious... why doesn't eMule+ use a Config folder???
As it would make having a clean directory much easier.. (;

Well, it seems to have worked smile.gif

My only question now, is, my pc freezes occasionally, when this happened in eMule v0.29, until I turned on safe writing: always, occasionally I lost some of my downloads when it froze.

However, I can't seem to find an option to turn safe writing always on in eMule Plus, is there an option, or is it always on anyway?

Cheers...

Well, this is what it says in the help file:

QUOTE

Safe .met / .dat file writing
On newer operating systems using NTFS as file system there is usually no need to change this option. If downloads are reproducibly lost on crashes or eMule shut downs the safer method should be tried.
Depending on the hardware used, this option may notably increase disk activity / system load or prolong eMule's shut down!

o On shutdown
eMule will use extra safety measures to commit the .met and .dat files to disk on application exit. This may prolong the time needed for shut down.

o Always
The safety measures are used on every write access to these files.

I am using the NTFS file system, but before I turned on this feature, I always lost at least one download when my PC froze, and while my PC is not freezing as much as it used to, I would rather not lose any of my downloads on the rare occasion when my pc does freeze... especially if it's a rare download that's been downloading for weeks, or months...

I recommend PMbackup you can get it here:

http://www.tool-garage.de/de/win32_pmb.php

For the time beeing its the best app for both clients.met and both download backups, at least untill the safe .met / .dat file writing is in Emule+ smile.gif
