Are you exaggerating with the days number? or is that how long it actually takes?

File size?
Do you send it to a another partition?
Processor?
Ram?

Ok the downloading process is slow (Check common topics for pointers) but the completing shouldnt take "years" (literally -- that was what i was asking if you exagggerating on).
Depending on specs, filesize, the completing process can take a few minutes.

Are you using official 1j release?
Because in some Interim releases we were testing a code that produced effects like this. Anyway, never 5 days... I believe it was always less than an hour.

Anyway, can you tell us were the Temp is, were the Incoming (or destination directory) is and if you enabled slow completion?

Do you have any log entry? After restart nothing happens?

Hello, I have the same problem as Zed described. It started after i started using emule v1j and/or set it up on a "new" computer.

specs:
athlon xp 1600+
256 ram
15gb system hd
160gb wd storage hd

Emule directory is on system drive (c:), temp and incoming directories are on storage drive (d:). I have the same version of emule on my personal computer and it finishes downloads ok, its an athlon 2400+ 512 and 120gb disk, but emule is on the same drive as its incoming and temp dirs.

Sometimes the downloads finish ok and sometimes they stay in completing stage forever .. Emule restart sometimes helps, sometimes not, sometimes for all "completing" files, sometimes for just a few. Here is a screenshot so u can see the fields .. notice the completed and transeferd sizes .. the first file that is completed is the only file that got finished after i restarted emule and a full day has passed since then ..

user posted image

Any help would be appreciated i tried tampering with the various settings in emule to no effect .. i have the latest version of emule 1j.

thanks for any replies,
Martin

This does most sertainly look VERY strange.. If you ddn't have a screen-shot of it, I wouldn't believe it.. blink.gif

Have you triede with (or without) Slow Completion?
This can sometimes have an effect when completing files...

There doesn't seem to be anything wrong with Transfered/Completed sizes..

eMule uses compression when tranfering, thus e.g. a .SUB file is greatly compressed. You will also see that if you use your favorite packing program (RAR, ZIP ACE etc) those files can be compressed VERY MUCH.

For ISOs and AVIs you can see that the difference is much smaller, because those formats are already compressed.

I'm apologize for not getting back, i thought nobody cared anyway, since nobody posted. The problem was not EMule, i had two processes running all the time - bot.exe and dos.exe, by the their nature i'd saj thej were trojans or sth i dont even know. They did funny things though, they used up around 80% cpu time, if u terminated them they just reappeared instantly and they closed the msconfig utility after around 2 secs. I had to be very quick when disabling them wink.gif . Just deleted them and all worked like a charm. thanks for the reply though, bye.

You can also do a search for an application called HijackThis (one word.) It can disable malicious programs that insinuate themselves into your startup and registry.

Hi, I'm having the same problem with v1k. Right now I have a half-dozen files, ranging from 50MB to 400MB, that have been in "completing" status for 1 to 4 days. I'd say that about 1 in 30 files ends up in permanent "completing" status. I used v1j for a week or two before upgrading, and I didn't download much with v1j, but it never got locked in "completing." No one can download the files from me; the completed files are not being uploaded by me, nor are they in my queue or in my Shared Files. I can copy the .part out of the temp directory and rename it, but I can't cancel the download. By restarting eMulePlus, I was able to complete two previous "completing" downloads that stayed in limbo for a day. I've never seen one of these locked "completing" downloads complete on their own.

I haven't watched eMulePlus very carefully, so I'm sorry I can't be more specific about the problem or give you a reproducible case. I will continue to watch the program and try to give you a better report of what's going on. Below, I've included information about my system that might be helpful, and I'll provide more information of you want. I really like eMulePlus's enhancements--it's a great program, thank you for developing it! I hope this wrinkle gets ironed out so I can enjoy the program even more. smile.gif

Processors: 2x AMD XP1600+ (Dual CPU)
Motherboard: Tyan Tiger MP
RAM: 512MB
Operating System: Windows XP Professional, SP1 + latest updates
Antivirus: Norton AV 2002, latest definitions. No out-of-the-ordinary processes are reported by Task Manager.

eMule v0.42e and eMulePlus are installed in separate directories on the same partition. I don't run eMule at the same time as eMulePlus, but I have accidentally loaded it a couple of times while eMulePlus was running. The Temp folder (used by both programs) is on the same partition as the Incoming folder, and there is always 2-6GB of free space available. At times, the projected final filesize for all files may have exceeded the actual free space, but the Temp/Incoming partition has never actually run out of space.

I had the "slow completion..." option initially disabled, but after a few files went into permanent "completing" status, I turned it on. New files still get stuck sometimes.

I can't say for sure whether I have seen files that went from "completing" to "completed" after I finished uploading the file to someone (I think I have seen that happen, which is the intended operation of the program), nor do I know if all the locked "completing" files were, at the time they hit 100%, being sent to other users.

I can't think of any other settings I've touched that should affect this problem: in this session of eMulePlus, I've changed my username, I've increased and decreased my upload speed limit, and I've connected to several different servers. It's possible that these actions might somehow affect the completion of files, I suppose... I'm only a programming student, but I've already seen some weird bugs in my tiny programs. biggrin.gif

Any ideas on what might be the cause of this? Anything else I can tell you?
