I've some friends with an invalid ident in my buddylist, I know they are the real persons and I just got a wrong/faked ident from someone else and now they have to pay for.

Since I dont how the secure ident works here the question. Is it possible to somehow fix this w/o he or me have to change the hash? Could it be possible to save the ident that was received and discovered as invalid, and add a new action to the friend-menu where I can say "use this clients ident for this hash"?

Would that work?

(ok, no code in this post, but maybe someone has some for me wink.gif)

I can confirm this!
I also have a known client with an invalid identification. We both use e+.

The problem and known limitation of this is that AFAIK the secure IDs are being stored in your credits file so if you have that identification used before by another user then your friend will never manage to get a valid ID unless he rebuild his.

Have you tried removing the file (keep it somewhere safe)?

Hm, ok, I will remove this client from client.met using MetMedic and will see what happens.

Ok, that's it. After removing the client with MetMedic, the identification works correct. Perhaps we should implement a selection in the context menu from the friendlist to remove it with e+.

You mean remove the entry in credits.met for that client?
That could be abused I think...

Yes.

For what?
If one want, one can delete client.met each time before starting emule.

Strange, after removing the invalid client from my client.met, we both are valid. My friend didn't change anything! blink.gif

Yes... that should be the right behavior as you don't know any more that identification for any user and your friend can enter your queue without any problem, or I'm not understanding you. huh.gif

The starting situation was, both sides were invalid. I with him and in reverse. After removing his client on the one side, both are valid. Strange blink.gif

You mean you started to be valid on the other side, in other terms your friend didn't see you as invalid anymore without clearing his clients from the other ID?

I am/was the opposite client.
Obviously DoubleT's client decided that mine was am invalid one and stored that information for ever.

I don't think a manual remove from the client.met is the best solution. I'd prefer recheck that could be initiated from the context menue leaving the other informations in the file untouched.
Or if appliable an automatic recheck every n weeks for the invalid clients. Maybe the circumstances for a failed suid are gone. So the permanent storage in the client.met is no smart way. As seen in our experience.
