I have 2 Questions....the first...I wanna a COMPLETE guide to configure zone alarm to work properly with emule plus...I've read many posts...some give ideas about some ports configuration only..i cant get to find a post which contains the complete configuration...is it only these 2 ports 4662 in TCP and 4672 in the UDP...or are there any other ports ?
should i set the security level to medium ? or High wont do any harm ? The Other Question...how do I know if my client ID is high or low ? are there any scales ? Thanks In Advance |

First and most important: stay away from current ZA 5.xx as I read several reports it causes serious problems, not only with emule!
If you use ZA free you only have to give emule+ full access (4 times the green marker) and set the two firewall sliders to "medium", not "high". If you use ZA pro you additionally have to disable all three functions in the "privacy" section. And you can give emule+ the permission to send mail (not to really send mail but to avoid silly warnings as some clients use port numbers normally used for mail). I use emule+ with ZA (free and pro versions from 3.xx to 4.5xx now) for years without any problems with this settings. I never had to create special rules for ports or so, I always get a HighID and memory usage is not excessive. |

Am using Zone Alarm 4.5 Pro ... and i already have these 3 options set to Off ... I also use medium for the internet zone
the problem is I dont know if my ID is low or not ? how do I know it ? my last ID was 53086801 how high or low is this ? I still get download speeds of average 4-5 KB/s for all my downloads ! am on an ADSL 256/64 connection ... i limit my upload to 4 KB/s files in my list have alot of sources...am either awaiting..or downloading from maximum 2-3 sources for each file...with the speed above mentioned ! any other clues ? I still wanna know how to configure special rules for Emule in ZA to make sure this is not the problem |

good, there is nothing more you can do within ZA. And remember to not upgrade to ZA 5 until they fix their problems.
every ID from 16777216 up is high, you can see this by green arrows on the connection symbol in the lower right. If arrows are yellow you have a LowID. The value of the ID doesn't matter, there is no "better" HighID! Use the FAQ link on top of this page.
read Common Topics how to speed up Emule+, you have to configure it right, earn credits by uploading and have patience |
