Obviously I am new to Emule Plus and really could use some advice if anyone would please reply I would really appreciate it.

I am connected with a low id. I have a linksys router and the ports are open for emule, I have comcast cable internet, the xp firewall is off, and I have no other firewalls. Can anyone tell me what to check for in order to receive a high id rating? Thank you.

locate the "lan connection", open properties, choose "internetprotocol (tcp/ip)" within the elements list, click properties, switch from dynamic/automatic config to "use this settings" and enter fixed values for ip, subnet, gateway and dns.

Syrus I just talked to Comcast Cable, my internet provider, and they tell me that if I set up a static ip address that it may work for a while but then it will not work at all later, any suggestions? Thanks again for your help.

I give up, too frustrating and complicated. I was connected just fine with high id before installing a new hard drive, now I can not get rid of the high id. How do I find the dns server numbers to set up static ip address?

tongue.gif its only a small step from networking to notworking

about what your isp said (well i think u mixed it up when talking to them):
yes, your router has to be configured to use the dynamic PUBLIC ip from your isp. thats the wan/internet side of the game where your router meets the isp. dont touch this setting (i never said so).
the other side is your lan where your pc meets the router. there your router gives your pc a PRIVATE dynamic ip, too. and thats where u should use static ipconfig.

it helps if u execute "cmd.exe" and then post the results of the command "ipconfig /all" and "tracert www.what-u-like.com". also rtfm of your router looking for some 'dhcp server/range settings'...

Well don't know how or why but all of a sudden I am connected with a high id, yeepee, hope it stays this way. I never figured out how to do the IP thing you suggested so I don't know what made the high id appear but glad it did. Thanks SyruS.
