hello e+ developers,
it would be nice, when an IDLE-PRIORITY-status for upload exists, this means only upload, when no other clients are in queue for other files. what do u think about this? the reason is: when i would like to upload new (big) files i release them, and download sometimes other files too. Although setting some dl-files in shared files to priority 'very low' the have often high uploads. an 'idle priority' would be fine in this case for uploading rare/new files... thx a lot! e+1n, 2004-09-22 |

QUOTE(isolayer2 @ Sep 22 2004, 23:18) this means only upload, when no other clients are in queue for other files. what do u think about this? i think yes, files with 'low' priority will still be available among other files with higher priority - but dont u like to get some pretty old stuff sometime, too? tuppence |

QUOTE(SyruS @ Sep 22 2004, 23:34) there will nearly never be no clients waiting for other files, so this feature would virtualy unshare this 'idle' priorized files from network - which i cannot agree to. yes, that's true, in that case the file currently downloading would have no uploads until no other - higher priorty - files are requested. But: when someone have many (rare) files and want to upload faster, there's no way to give them full bandwith. I'm also running the client with no dl's just for ul and sometimes no ul requests are incoming. But if downloading a very popular file, the ul queue is full quickly. may be, "IDLE" priority is not really so good, but perhaps e+ developers can add a "nearly idle" priority to e+. I would appreciate that. thx a lot! |
