Both my uploads and downloads suddenly drop to nothing every 10-15 minutes. The uploads then build themselves back up to speed over the next couple of minutes, run along at about 25Kb/s for 10-12 minutes when they then suddenly drop to nothing again. If any downloads have restarted during this time, they too drop to nothing at the same time as the uploads. I never get more than 15 minutes continual uploading or downloading. I do not get disconnected from the servers when this happens and my upload queues must remain as the upload window show that some clients have been waiting for over an hour for their upload. I connect to the Internet through ADSL and my modem reports a download speed of 576 Kb/s and upload of 288 Kb/s. This modem is connected to a wireless router and my PC connects to that using a wireless network card. I have passed all ports (4661, 4662, 4665, 4672 & 4711) through to my PC. I have also opened them up on my firewall (Noton Internet Security 2004). All connection tests imply that these ports are open and working. I do not think that this is the problem. If it was I wouldn't have expected to get even 10 minutes of up/downloading. My Emule Plus connectiuon settings are as follows: Client ports: TCP 4662, UDP 4672 Download: Capacity 64, Limit 64 Upload: Capacity 32, Limit 25 Queue size: 3000 Max. connections: 150 In 5 secs: 10 I also find that browsing the Internet is very unreliable whilst Emule Plus is running. I often get "page not found" and have to hit refresh to load it. I am not sure if this is normal or linked with this problem. Has anybody else experienced this? Can anybosy offer me any suggests as to how I can fix it? |

try this settings:
change your TCP & UDP ports from default download: unlimited upload limit: 23 queue size: 5000 max. connections: 300 in 5 secs: 40 should work just fine |

Dropping all of mu up & downloads every 10-15 minutes. I have also tried disabling my Norton firewall but that made no difference either. Anybody got any ideas? |

first enable debuglog and see if theres something at that times.
is gui still responsive during drops? is cpu-usage very high or low? exclude temp and config dirs from virusscanning. |

OMG. Deep Sigh. If you are using Windows XP SP2, the tcpip.sys file that is shipped with it has a limit of 10 half open connections at any given time. Once this limit is reached, further connections are refused.
10 half open connections is not enough for p2p use. You therefore need to patch the tcpip.sys so that it allows more connections. 50 is good, unlimited is better if you have a fast connection. Read up on it here http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=23719&st=0 then get the files either from there or from http://www.lvllord.de where you can get a patcher that is easy to use. |

Ok, boss:) no need for deep sighs - its not a shame not to know something - shame is - not to admit it:) (at least to yaself). Anyways, u know? YOUR explanation was far better than these hacker-computer networkin pros, who operate in terms i have yet to learn...
Thanks:) So - i downloaded this TCPIP thing..lets see if it'll work:) QUOTE(muleteer @ Jan 16 2005, 16:31) OMG. Deep Sigh.
