whilst of course keeping fully compatable with the ED protocol.
1. Serverless searching through currently connected file sources, by each user's allowance of course. recently it's been very hard to connect to a server at all, and even then, only to very low traffic servers (no more than 10000 to 20000 users) where I was getting into the high traffic servers (100,000 or more users) very easily just a week or 2 ago, and I think this could possibly (possibly no, I'd hope it would) help alleviate at least some load on the servers. It would most likely be that this would only work with other clients with ths particular feature (a bit obvioulsy), but I'm almost just as sure that this is a feature that would spread to the other clients if it works out well here. 2. The abilty to connect to more than on server at the same time. Quite probably the opposite effect as the previous feature, I know, but would definitely increase the user's searching ability. I'd say no more than 3 servers at the same time. 3. A secondary hashing of search results. I have come across many files which are absolutely identical (by an MD5 check myself after downloading them), but have a different hash for whatever reason and therefore end up as separate search results. I'm sure that this is another feature that would require client support on both ends, but again I think it'd spread out to the other clients. Also it'd probably be heavy on the clients CPU load, so also a user selectable function. |
