Hi, this probably is my first post on this forum ever
I'm using linux on my home computer for some time now, and there is no decent ed2k client available. aMule is very unstable, many bugs, many features that don't work, is based on wxGTK which is itself a wrapper for GTK, which makes it slow enough, and paired with it's instability, it's not really good. mldonkey misses many key features a client needs, none of the available GUI's provide them. Now my idea is this. There must be some coders that know Qt, use linux and are willing to port emule+ to linux with the Qt toolkit. Since Qt4 is going to be free on windows too, it will work on windows too eventually. The idea is to use the emule+ codebase, just convert everything to Qt classes. The project will not be a fork of any kind (kind of what happened with amule, which is based on 0.30 emule code). The only goal is to make emule+ work with Qt on linux. If any developer is interested, or if you have any comments, please don't hesitate to post them. You can also contact me at ICQ: 134893659 MSN: genia4@gmail.com I'll be greatful for any input on the matter. |

I am going to, but it's a big project, would like some help with it Alone it would take me couple of good months, altough it's mostly trivial. I'm sure I can get a dev or two to help me, would speed it up, don't you think? I'm sure many linux users are waiting for a client that's better than what currently is available, and it would be great if it was based on eplus and not emule Going to bed now, i'll read your responses in the morning. |

Forgot to mention one thing.
Qt is very very easy to pick up for someone who knows c++. Don't hesitate to reply if you know c++ and don't know Qt, learning it is really not a problem. I can always help, and the docs are excelent. You can check the docs at http://doc.trolltech.com/3.3/index.html |

QUOTE(Genia4 @ Jun 19 2005, 22:38) I'm sure I can get a dev or two to help me, would speed it up, don't you think? This is not realistic. BTW, you can run eMule+ in emulator, what is pretty good according to the words of other users... |

Hmmm...this post has not been replied to in a very long time...
I have not been using emule for atleast 2 yrs but it has been my fav and am getting my broadband connection in a couple of days. i prefer using linux and would require emule plus on it and am interested in exploring the possibilities of having a qt port of emule plus though it runs great on wine. Genia4 if u are still interested and any one else...we can work on this. I have some exp in QT not very extensive. |

bmvbab, have you ever tried to run ePlus with Wine?, it does work pretty nice... some minor GUI details that could be fixed, but not critical.

Well.. as you see, it actually works fine with Wine, which as you know it's free and very easy to install/use. I don't not know how mucho effort is to make ePlus QT compatible, but it seems that it's a big job |
