Pretty sure this is covered in the faq.
In short... The ed2k network allows only one file to be downloaded at a time off a specific source. Say you have want to get two files off one user.. one music file, one video file. A4AF (Ask for another file) allows you the chance to tell emule to get that file instead of the other from that source or other sources.. A a4af on the video download will take sources that are also downloading from for other files to that one. So its kinda like your giving it a higher priority to be done sooner but it isn't always the case. |

Like reanimated838uk said, if you are downloading more than one file from the same client, only one file at a time will actually be requested from that client; the other file(s) will show that source as greyed out (inactive) and marked A4AF.
There are certain A4AF manipulatons that you can do, covered under the Advanced section of the context menu. Basically, you can choose which file should be requested from a particular source, and which files should have greater priority in requesting such sources. You can set (in preferences>files) the options to 'start downloading paused files on complete' and 'resume from other categories when done' to ensure that when the files that you are currently downloading are completed, other files will become active. That, however, is not relevant to the A4AF question that you have raised. A4AF is not relevant for the files that you are uploading. It is left to the downloading client to determine which file he wants first. |

*kicks babylon in his "babylons" * - still got a headache BWHAHAHAH!!!.
Consider this scenario. You are requesting two files off me. "The greatest emuleplus hits", and "You got eMule!" . Even though I have two files you want to download from me, you can only download one at a time. So its either the greatest hits or the you got mule. By choosing A4AF on your greatest hits file, you can take all your sources that you are downloading more than one file from to be set to download that file rather than the other one. Alternatively...... Just read the FAQ!! |
