Full Version: Missing Completed Files

Downloaded files appear complete (i.e. showing 100% progress) but they do not appear in the "C:\Program Files (x86)\eMule\Incoming" folder where they are supposed to. Many of them do appear in the Shared Files view inside of eMule though. When I try to open some of them (MP3's and PDF's in particular) they often (but not always) report that the file is missing. This also happens when I try to copy them from the Shared Folder view inside eMule (via the Shell Menu --> Copy) to another directory. Attempting to do that displays the message "Could not find item. This item is no longer located in C:\Program Files (x86)\eMule\Incoming. Verify the item's location and try again."

I am frustrated because I don't want to continue running eMule if it means that my files were somehow corrupted and would have to be downloaded all over again just for them to show up properly as a file in windows and be accessible.

Thanks for the tip. Changed the UAC settings. Seems to be working now.

My incoming folder says empty. It's not. I think I just found out something dumb that works. w00t.gif In the windows menu I find the following: (Its in french on my computer 'cause thats what some people speak and install windows in)...so in keeping with the emule rule "English only" I'll translate here.
Organiser----affichages--------fichiers de compatabilité
Organize-----display-----------compatibility files-------------English..I think

Heh. now the dumb part..click on the "compatibility files", and it changes the display to
Organiser----affichages---------lire tout---------graver
Organize-----display-------------read all---------write (CD)

Bingo...the missing files appear

PS: I left my CA surfing 20 yrs ago....hence the nom de plume...
oops...sorry emule...pen name

Interesting thought, but I'm not sure I follow. sad.gif Could you please post some pictures (screenshots) to show what you are talking about? Also, which operating system version are you using? Under Organize on my system I can't see anything marked 'display', the nearest being 'layout'. Under 'layout' the options are menu bar, details pane, preview pane and navigation pane. Which of these do you mean?

Can someone who is facing this problem PLEASE give me some details about the system? I am not able to reproduce this issue. sad.gif

1. Which OS: Windows Vista or Windows 7?
2. Which version: Home, Home premium, Business, Enterprise, Ultimate.... wallbash.gif tongue.gif
3. How many bits: x86 (32 bit) or x64 (64 bit)?
4. Are you logged in as Administrator or as a User?
5. Which antivirus, anti spyware, etc. do you have installed?
6. Which file system: FAT32 or NTFS?
7. Any other disk related utility that might be causing this? BitLocker, for instance. Not saying that is the culprit, just that it might be. unsure.gif

I have deciphered what old-ca-surfer was saying so that those of us who are working in English mode can use it - it works!

The problem is that Windows security is intervening to hide the files from view because they are deemed malicious. Do not bother trying to go into the gpedit.msc because it is too complicated and you could do real damage to your computer.

Instead, you will find your files simply by clicking one button.

Here are the steps for Windows 7:

1. Open your Incoming folder (C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files (x86)\eMule\Incoming)
2. In the bar at the top of the folder window, you will see various buttons saying things like 'Organize', 'Include in Library', 'Share with', 'Compatibility Files'
3. Click on the button labeled 'Compatibility Files'
4. Presto, your files are visible. You'll need to repeat these steps each time you want to view the items in the folder.
