Hi

Just wondering did you guys have problems connecting to Razorback/ Slient-bob and some ProbenPrinz servers for the past few days? I keep getting IP being blacklist or server being full or sometimes I might be able to connect for a few seconds before I get disconnected.

I was looking around sharereactor, and it was mentioned that they upgraded the servers to P75(lugdunum) which is the cause of all these problems.

Anyone would know how should I get about this problem? Apparently, the only way I could go onto the servers is when they are loaded with P72 and below (which most of them are obscure servers).

Thanks!

biggrin.gif i got this problem which i mentioned in the official team sections of this forum. Any chance your downloading a lot at once? Try cutting it down, and don't connect to the blacklisted servers for a while as they'll blacklist you again for being further agressive meaning you'll just end up being blocked for longer.

The best thing users can do is stop using those servers. IMHO they are doing wrong by banning that way users. Is not that we have hundreds of files. Normal behaviors are being banned. This is not ok and must be fight back, so the best you can do is find another server.

Hi,

I too have been experiencing the message "ERROR: your IP is blacklisted because of the behaviour of your client." I get this message from both Silent-Bob and Portal Pirata.

What client behaviour are they opposed to?

Having been a long time Emule user, I switched to EmulePlus a couple months ago, and am now wondering if I shouldn't switch back to Emule...or is it affected too?

All suggestions welcomed. Thanks!

Hi guys, thanks for the reply. Glad to know its not a fault on my computer biggrin.gif

On a side note, can I confirm that if I do connect to another server, it does not compromise my downloading of any files as I may still be able to find users logged on to other servers? Maybe just a longer time to find users who are having the files on different servers? (Sorry for this noobish question as I'm quite new to Emule tongue.gif

Thanks!

Hi,

I did a little reading on it, and I found out that they impose a new kind of points system, whereby if you go below a certain amount of points, they would ban you from the servers. To get points deducted, would be to download alot of files at a go (something like 50), keep doing searches, and anything that would be banwitdth hogging.

As for Emule, I believe the same point system would stay, as such, I don't think it would make much of a difference if you were to use Emule or Emule plus.

This system is designed for protecting servers against some agressive behaviors from clients.

Read the following >>>

A bit of history : in the previous episode...

This system has been enabled since several months on all Lugdunum's servers. Until now, blacklisted users didn't recieved sources from server anymore, during a certain period (predetermined by the server's admin), and hadn't been informed about that. As they could stay connected, our expects on behavior's user changes was unsuccessful, because they ignored they didn't received sources from server anymore, as far as eMule has an exchange sources feature. Now, there's about 5% of blacklisted users on Razorback.

Consequence

Lugdunum has decided to increase decisivenesses agaisnt these users, in the new eDonkey server release, 75 version. They are now disconnected from servers and notified of the reason.

How aggressive clients are determined by server

The server give to each IP address a 1200 points "credit" for a determined period. The credit counter is growing to one unit each second.

Each request sent to server is decreasing the counter of a certain amount of credit, according to this scale :

- 1 credit : at least, for each trame + a variable amount
- 100 credits : for each connection request
- 16 credits : for each sources request for a downloading file

Overrun consequences

If the credit counter is becoming null, you'll be BLACKLISTED during a predetermined period, according to each server (from 10 mins to 2 hours).
If during this blacklisting period, your client still sending request to the server, the ban lenghth is growing more and more.

It doesnīt make much difference to which server youīre connected to.

IMO that kind of restriction is not ok at all.
I mean, providing sources and indexing files is what servers are there for.
Itīs ok that server jumping etc. is forbidden, but just normal source requests dry.gif

Anyway, I donīt like that kind of new rules and set those servers to Low priority.

I donīt even think itīs very clever, since disconnecting you from servers forces you to reconnect to another server, using bandwidth, stressing the server....

P.S.: yep, all clients are effected

its been happening to me too i have like 100 files in my mule. razor back and 5 probenprinz servers and silentbob have blacklisted me. does anyone know how to view your credits? so in response to netwolfs post what do you suggest we do?

Nope... The only problems I have is either the server is full or my IP is still connected after I restart eMule..

Back to p74 as p75 is a bit too strict and puts too many people on the blacklist. biggrin.gif

Nice biggrin.gif didnt know they had an english page. Thanks for that

Right now is the:
15.07.2003
Finally upgraded to server version p75. If you get into the blacklist and get banned, reduce the amount of files you download simultaneously to a maximum of 30 files.
If this won't help, you are maybe using an agressive client. Try with an unmodified edonkey oder emule client.

i also think there is a passage on the silent'bob page... about not sharing more then 40 files or so... as when ppl ask for your files, they deduct points from you to....
if this is going to keep up.. what is the use of they having servers at all? as they are only punishing ppl for having files... sad.gif

I have said it before and I'll gladly say it again:

Server admins are not interested if the users are happy on their servers but how many users that they can put 'in the box'

IMO servers that blacklist users for sharing files(!!) are equally as bad for the network as leechers ..

Lets ban 'em! biggrin.gif

JB

Edit: damn spelling... must buy new keyboard biggrin.gif

unfortunately i think you are correct... but if server admins continue to abuse their users... their users will be someone elses users... (hmm,... did i put that right smile.gif )

mm... servers that blacklist for sharing "to many" files... hurt the network just as bad as the leechers.. if not worse...

new keyboard? What about a keytronic... (;
or we could all start typing in our native languages.. then we would see less spelling errors.. but quite a lot more of confusion on the board.. (: wink.gif

Hello guys , Takling from Israel.

Me and some of my friends are Having the same problem here.
The problem in Israel is bigger Because ISP'S are Do not give Static IP ADDRESS to thier
Costumers , In a result of that , a lot of time when i reconnect to the internet
I am getting the BLack list massage and it is only because that someone that had my IP before me
was trying to abuse the server , or was not acting right.

I hope Servers admins will Stop this rules as soon as possible because currently
My client can't go above 20Kb of download rate .
