and he keeps on uploading to me...
it would be nice if emule plus would ban a person who uploaded 2 corrupted parts...

to give him a temporary ban for 1 session so if i restart my mule that he isnt banned anymore
and only ban him when he sended 2 corrupted parts and not 1 valid part

Something along those lines is under discussion. In the meantime, if you know which client is sending you bad data, you can put his IP address in your ipfilter.dat (in your config folder; open with Wordpad), or block that IP with your firewall.

banning people sending crap on purpose is nice but if you download from a guy who may be uploading the same crap, you cannot really blame hime till he has the lot together...
I end up with mp4's which want to goto MS to verify but the damned things donot. Anyone downloading from me till I see the result gets crap, all I can do is stick it elsewhere.... Ie not downloadable. You can blame people who donot remove completely downloaded crap (g) but all thos others which make the system work..
Sorry, have to stop typing, broke my colar bone a few days ago..

tracer: This discussion is not about fake or corrupt or invalid or password or license protected files. This thread is about data corruption, where the part being downloaded is being marked as corrupt when the part itself completes.

It should be something like drop/ban/detect these who sent corrupted parts. It's annoying when you see how many parts are corrupted and you cannot do anyting about it. Banning those via ipfilter doesn't have any sense, try to ban 30% useres from one file that you're downloading.
So maybe improving detection and security options will be fair enough?

It is under active discussion. Believe me, we understand your frustration. First hand. wink.gif

that would be nice to ban users who send corrupted parts. as it is right now. i have to add the ip into the filter and restart emule. restarting it sucks.

Yes, restarting to apply changes to the ipfilter sucks. sad.gif I prefer putting these IPs in my firewall, but be alert to the possibility that a part might end up corrupt if some other client had previously partially filled it with corrupt data. The client that actually completed the part might not be to blame at all.

The current rash of corruption is due to a programming bug in the VeryCD client from China which was released to users before the bug was caught by the betatesters. Everyone who moans about our releases coming several months apart please take note. rolleyes.gif They have released a fix, but it will take a while before all the users out there replace their buggy clients. wink.gif

The actual loss is much less than reported because the buggy clients send highly compressed data, so very little bandwidth is wasted by them. Just block any such clients you can spot and keep going - the ICH will recover the corrupt parts in due course.

However, this has kickstarted development on ways of hardening our defences against corruption, so IMO it has been a blessing in disguise. smile.gif

could the servers just be told to ban these verycd users? or perhaps send them a message every few hours urging them to upgrade?

i dont want to sound like a whiny bitch but theis corruption thing is killing me.
muleteer
AFAIK the bug has been fixed. There might still be a couple of strays out there but for the most part they are gone. Check your logs. You should no longer be getting repeated corruption (same part corrupt again and again), nor unexplained compression gain.

However, the parts that were partially filled with corrupt data will show up as corrupt one more time, then they'll be recovered properly.

I fix this issue by using an emule with protocol obfuscation function active. Sometimes this happen because security policies of some ISP's, now i can download without loosing not any part!

Try using emule 0.47c Xtreme 5.4.2.

PD: I've been always emuleplus true fan but i just can't donwload without this function so i had to switch to another one to get my files good.
